Just in time for Halloween, my podcast interview with Devon Clapp is up on Big Red and Shiny. Devon Clapp’s paintings focus on darker subjects, such as the occult and somewhat disturbing thoughts and experiences, and he also relates that his paintings are meant to evoke the feeling of finding a pornographic magazine in the woods. An eerie, unsettling thought, but an interesting and lively interview, now on Big Red and Shiny. Listen to the full interview by following the link below.

About Devon: Devon earned a BFA in Printmaking from the Montserrat College of Art in 2006, and an MFA in Painting from the Pratt Institute in New York in 2011. Using quick, expressive marks and bright, outlandish colors, Devon paints scenes that raise a range of conflicting emotional responses, ranging from intrigue, to humor, to uneasy sensations of fear. In his earlier pieces these scenes were often set in the woods and contained many occult references. In recent works the source and setting of the imagery is more mixed, while achieving the same effect.
