It’s been a while since I posted any updates, reason being that I’m not currently working on any new stencil paintings. I can crank out stencil works production-style and have two or three new pieces a day once I get everything set up, but now I’m back to the time-consuming process of making freehand paintings. After several weeks of work, I’ve decided that this one is done:
I’m getting back into my series expressing an organic interpretation of our constructed, inorganic environments that we create. I’m constantly trying to further articulate my interpretation of the world we create for ourselves, and relatively soon should be finishing some new pieces in this vein that start to expand the vocabulary of how I deal with the topic.
Also, I’m preparing for an exciting move to Chicago! I’m pumped to be moving to such a great city finally and all the opportunity it is sure to bring, but it also means that my production will likely be slowed throughout the summer. I’ll most likely resort to writing more, perhaps even getting back into my graphic novel project that I put on hiatus a couple years ago, and probably get back into art production full swing by September.
I also hope to arrange a showing of my family portraits series as soon as I can after arriving in Chicago. I think it would be a great introductory event for my arrival in the city, and can’t wait to see that series come to full fruition.
